We recommend you to visit some special places in Bucharest, whose architecture is a mixture of old and new, with different and interesting influences. If you are looking for Romanian folk culture, there are 2 very special places: the open-air Village Museum and the Romanian Peasants Museum. In the Village Museum you can see original peasant houses in a wonderful scenery, while in the Romanian Peasants Museum you will find an impressive collection of traditional objects, displayed in a magnificent building.
You can also visit the Art Museum, the Collection Museum, the Museum of Natural Sciences Grigore Antipa and the Museum of History. In the Collection Museum you can admire paintings and art objects belonging to different art collectors.
The churches of Bucharest are famous and many of them are very old: Stavropoleos Church, Domnita Balasa and St. Elefterie Church.
If you feel like walking, there are a lot of parks: Herastrau - with beautiful resting places and long green alleys, the Botanical Garden, Tineretului Park or Cismigiu Garden.
Visiting the old part of the town offers an interesting contrast to the crowded places of city centre. You will be amazed by the ancient atmosphere of Covaci and Lipscani streets. Here you can shop beautiful handicraft souvenirs and traditional objects.
Last but not least you can visit the districts around the Romanian Television building and Cismigiu Gardens with their enchanting old buildings. |
